Insulation

July/August 2000

We wanted to put up insulation before the winter snow flurries dust the place. Last year - even in March - it got downright nippy in the cabin at night.

Here I am working...or at least looking like I'm working. Notice the scaffolding I made. It's a mini loft: 2 12' 2x6 boards and some scrap plywood. I used them quick release clamps made by the vice grip people to fasten the boards to the rafters. It took longer to move the scaffold than to staple the insulation up!

Here's what it looks like with the insulation up - warm and toasty!
Notice the new refrigerator...now there's a story!
Actually, we noticed a difference when the hot sun came up the next day. The cabin stayed much cooler than it had been getting the last few times we been up there. By the way, you can see we left one of the 2x6 boards up to hang the lantern from.

We also put some shelves in the pumphouse for junk that Deb doesn't want in the cabin. I'm sure it won't be long before we need a bigger pumphouse!

Deb fills the bird feeder whenever we're there. We get doves and bluebirds. There's also a really small cottontail rabbit living in the bush behind the feeder.
