The Hydrant

Thanksgiving 2001

While it does snow at Dragon's Nest, we don't usually get but an inch or two. It does freeze, however and last winter it froze our pipes. So this year we made plans to keep the water warm.

Our neighbors showed us their yard hydrants and expalined that the valve mechanism is actually buried 2 feet underground. When you turn the spigot off, the water drains out the bottom of the pipe We extended the bottom pipe a few feet to hook up a pipeline to the cabin later.

Then we buried the pipes at least 18 inches. Deb built a wall on the east side of the tank, but we didn't have time to build the west wall so what you see is temporary.

It got real cold on our last day. We were chased by a rainshower on our way home.

Mike Bish gave us this rug he bought in Korea. I don't think the wings are big enough to lift this horse, though.
