ROBERT SHERWOOD AND BETTY JANE SARTORIS
MARRIED DECEMBER 16, 1953

Robert was born in Kent, Ohio. He joined the Air Force during the closing months of WWII. He was given the happy job of processing the paperwork of returning soldiers. He then attended Purdue University on the GI Bill, receiving his Bachelors degree. His writing skills were honed in a local tavern where he'd sit with a typewriter and pound out essays for fellow students who would pay him in beer. He became an editor.

Betty grew up in Akron, Ohio. The members of her family worked at the rubber factories in Akron. She learned to sing and play the violin, piano and organ. From an early age, she was always an active member of the church.

Robert met Betty while they were both working at the B.F. Goodrich plant in Akron, Ohio. The story of their meeting revolved around mistletoe and a conniving photographer. Later, a photograph of Betty showed up in the Goodrich paper wherein she held their firstborn, Linda.

After 3 more kids, and a stint in Seattle working for Boeing and writing articles for Aviation Week, Robert landed a job at the University of Akron. He eventually worked his way up to Director of Publications. Betty, meanwhile became the choir director at West Akron Church of Christ.

When his brother died in 1969, Robert's nephews came to live with him. At around the same time, Betty's mother moved in as well. At one point, Betty's oldest brother, Robert, also lived under the same roof. Total headcount was 11 mouths. Total yearly income at the time was less than $20k.

In 1971, Robert was diagnosed with cancer. The surgeon took out one of his lungs in 1972 and gave him 5 years to live. In 1983, Robert was again diagnosed with cancer. The surgeon took out more tissue. In 1994, Robert went under the knife a third time. This 11 year cycle prepares us for the year 2005, when Robert will probably once again beat the odds!

Currently, Robert and Betty are living in Sun City, Arizona. She works as the choir director and secretary for the First Christian Church of Sun City. Robert is a deacon and is involved in the church finances on a voluntary basis. He helps Betty with her work and remodels their house when she's not there.

Born July 27, 1954 in Akron, Ohio. Married Bill Stickle who was born January 19, 1948 in Coshocton, Ohio. Marriage date December 1, 1973. Linda and Bill were divorced February 24, 1976. Linda married next Michael Bartusek who was born September 17, 1949 in Martin's Ferry, Ohio. Marriage date July 17, 1982. Linda and Mike have 2 children, Toni, who is Mike's from a previous marriage, and Joseph.
